California State University at Stanislaus and their private foundation can no longer keep their speaker contract with Sarah Palin private, a judge has ruled.
Back in April, students dumpster diving retrieved bits and pieces of a draft of the contract for the upcoming June 25 fundraiser, and there was a quick outcry amongst Californians for the contract to be made public.
It is believed that the document contained a rider for items like bendy straws, services of Hollywood hairdressers (NOT those responsible for Nancy Pelosi’s blah bob) a soapbox to stand on, event security to keep people who read the newspaper out and also Levi Johnston, as well as a six figure speaking fee.
In his Monday ruling, Judge Roger Beauchesne said the contract was used "in the conduct of the public's business; therefore, said contract is also a public record."
One critic of the University’s secrecy told us, “I don’t understand how a public state university has a private foundation that was allowed to keep secrets from California tax payers. It is my right as a citizen to know how much of OUR money they paid Sarah Palin for a speech that the audience very likely forgot even as they were hearing it.”
