New York - The Wall Street Journal reported today that some theaters had listed a $20 price tag for IMAX showings of “Shrek: The Final Movie (Maybe) Forever and Now in 3-D.”
Four AMC theaters in Manhattan bumped the price to $20 dollars but three of them quickly changed their minds and dropped it down in the $17 - $19 range. A spokesperson for the theaters attributed the inflated price to an error and insisted anyone who was a big enough sucker to buy the tickets at $20 would be refunded the difference.
This was a wise move according to one film industry analyst. He told us, “this is good news for the opening weekend movie receipts. Most American parents are not going to want to spend that much green to have to sit through 90-minutes of fart jokes while hoping Puss ‘n Boots chokes on a fur ball (that illegal alien cat-bastard), or be wondering what in the holy hell has happened to Mike Meyers and Eddie Murphy’s careers, causing them to be so distracted that they'll miss the entire Shrek story. Then later, they’ll have no idea what their kids are chattering about on the ride home, making them seem cold and unfeeling. That misunderstanding will lead them to later get payback when the DVD is released, and they have to see it over and over again until they are bordering on insanity. Actually, that would probably happen regardless."
