Obama to Speak on Gulf Disaster Today

Washington, DC - After being almost eerily silent in recent days, President Obama is scheduled to speak at a press conference this afternoon (Complete with questions!) on the Gulf oil spill disaster.

It seems past time to rely on BP’s word that they find a way to stop the oil from leaking and clean up the mess, but if the government takes over, that means they own it.  Yes, our government taking charge over from BP would even nullify Colin Powell’s “Pottery Barn” rule of “You Break it You Buy It,” as unfortunately, that’s our rapidly deteriorating geography we’re talking about.

What will Obama finally say?  What would we like to hear?  We asked some readers for their thoughts.

“It’s been 38 days and BP still hasn’t been able to decide on the best way to contain it.  I would like for Obama to step up and declare he’s ‘The Decider’ now. I kind of miss having a President that gives us funny sound bites.   He also needs to make it clear that Americans can easily choose to buy our gas from homegrown eco-terrorists, like Exxon-Mobil.”

“We would really like to know, in plain English, how much oil has actually leaked into the Gulf.  That way we can reassess our appetite for oil and decide whether it’s worth shortening our family’s life expectancy to buy a Toyota hybrid SUV.”

“I just would like to know if it’s going to be bad enough to drive the Kardashians out of Miami for good, and if and when the spill is going to reach the Jersey Shore?”

Obama has bought the oil spill. He now owns it. His entire presidency rests on fixing it.

Isn't it about time for the oilmen get their bonuses?
