New York – It's deja vu at the zoo! Yes, for the second time as in as many months, an animal resident of the Bronx Zoo, this time a peacock, has tried to make a jailbreak.
The fancy feathered felon, appropriately named Mia (anagram: missing in action), evaded her captors, ended up escaping and was last seen Tuesday afternoon several blocks away from the zoo sunning herself on top of a limousine.
One of the zookeepers from the aviary insisted that Mia was not MIA because of poor treatment, further adding, “We go to great pains to make sure we keep up with our education and are always utilizing the most modern advances in animal care, from nutrition to housing. Mia’s always been a bit of a diva. The cobra had been bragging around the zoo between hisses, insisting he was very close to a contract for his own show on the Animal Planet channel during his absence. Mia has always aspired to be the next NBC peacock. Because we don’t have TV in her pen, she didn’t know that not only did NBC drop the peacock from their logo as a result of their merger with Comcast, but also that nobody’s really watched them regularly since the 90s. I’m hoping that limo she was chilling on yesterday was Donald Trump’s and that he told her how much his ratings for ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ dropped week over week and she’ll just scurry back home.”
