Libertarian Utopia Coming to an Island Near You

Pacific Ocean - Pay Pal founder and early Facebook exploiter Peter Thiel has put up $1.25 million of his own fortune to build an island-based society to be founded upon magical thinking and the notion that it can function without collecting taxes.

According to a profile in Delusional Rich Bastard magazine, Thiel has been a big backer of the Every Man is an Island Institute, which seeks to build sovereign nations in waters where the U.S. cannot possibly collect income tax.

A spokesperson for the institute said, "it’s most definitely a Petri dish for testing Libertarian theories that have been stymied by people showing up to vote for democracy. The freestanding structure will be built with super-sophisticated technology to resist hurricanes so there will be no need for an agency like FEMA. Security will be staffed entirely of Somali pirates who will work without a union. Every town square will be adorned with a gold statue of Ayn Rand and the species of wildlife on the island will be restricted only to the mythical chupacabras.”
