Countdown To Oscar!

Los Angeles -The nominations for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards were presented just now.  The academy chose Anne Hathaway to present the nominees, as she was the actress that would take the least amount of make-up to look presentable at 5:30am. While we are fast enough typists to present all the nominees, as far as the acting is concerned, we're just going to go ahead and predict the winners, as we are already one for one with that furry bastard groundhog this morning.

Best Supporting Actress: Although it will be tough to beat Penelope Cruz wearing a teddy, we have to go with Monique for "Precious."

Best Supporting Actor: Stanley Tucci has admitted that he even creeped himself out with his performance in “The Lovely Bones,” but NO ONE can touch Christolph Waltz for “Inglorious Basterds.”

Best Actress:  Meryl Streep did make us believe she was over six feet tall in Julie and Julia, but we have to give it to our girl, Sandra Bullock, for “The Blind Side.”  Something has to blot out her memory of doing “All About Steve.”

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges!  And not just because we believe George Clooney has dead looking eyes like a shark.  It’s because it’s Jeff’s turn for “Crazy Heart.”  Okay, we're sweet on the dude. Plus, who else would thank their stand in an awards speech?

Now here is where it gets to be more of a fair fight this year as they added 10 nominees for Best Picture.  This is because there are many different facets to achievement in film making and they don’t always have to revolve around stories like someone becoming the worlds most successful perfumer despite them having been born without a nose and living in a bombed out little French town during WWII, or some dreadfully heavy storyline like that.

Best picture:
Avatar; The Blind Side; District 9, An Education; The Hurt Locker; Inglorious Basterds; Precious; A Serious Man; Up; Up in the Air.

We’d love, love, love to see Tarantino walk away with it, but he’s up against the King of the World.  Who knows maybe there could be some surprises?  Yeah, right.

But it will definitely be more interesting with both Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin hosting this year.  We certainly couldn't stomach seeing Billy Crystal in a spotted blue face.

What do you think?
