The Rich Are Different – They Lack Empathy

Elites in London have been stunned this week by the riots of the underclass, but as it turns out their surprise isn’t all that surprising as a recent study suggests the rich lack empathy.

Authors of the study published in Current Psychological Directions Driving America Over a Cliff suggest that as much as Americans would like to pretend that class doesn’t matter, it still does.

One researcher told Unsolicited Drivel, “What I found most interesting about the report was that it clearly showed that despite what their bank accounts may say, people in the lower classes have a greater sense of self-worth.  Therefore, the fiscally challenged have a greater capacity to show empathy for others.   But this was not the case at all with the wealthiest Americans. While I was unable to prove significant self-loathing amongst their class, I definitely could prove an absence of empathy.  Contrary to popular belief among the super rich, empathy cannot be shown by merely tapping a jaywalker with the bumper of one’s limo instead of fully mowing them down or founding a charitable foundation for a tax write-off.  One really doesn’t even need a psychological study to prove the rich are lacking this all important personality trait.   For example, just look at their duplicitous theory of trickle-down economics that has never created jobs yet they have been trying to sell it to the poor folks like Florida swampland since as far back the 80s.  That’s proof positive they are not hard-wired to give a crap about the less fortunate.”
