Alec Baldwin to Run for Office?

In an upcoming appearance on CNN, “30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin tells disgraced Governor and ratings challenged talk show host Eliot Spitzer that he would be interested in running for political office.

In the interview that airs Wednesday, Baldwin stated that the only thing that would really hold him back is that he doesn’t want to leave New York and his home state has no shortage of hot air on the Hill.  He also mentioned that the Ivy League presidents who have been in charge since 1988 have failed to fix our country’s problems.

We know he’s extremely well informed and socially conscious, but does the charismatic actor really have a chance?  What say we check in with our unnamed political analyst?

U.D.:
“Happy New Year unnamed political analyst.  Boy, we’d actually have hope for the New Year if we thought Alec Baldwin would be kicking butt and taking names down in DC.  What are his odds?”

U.P.A.: “Thanks. Alec Baldwin?  Well, we really need someone to fill the void for representatives who tell the truth, but in a very sarcastic and histrionic manner with Alan Grayson gone from the House. While it’s true that New York is fully represented, I’d have to say Alec’s chances still look good to me.  Reason being, I haven chosen Rep. Pete King as the most likely congressperson to implode by saying bat-shit crazy racist remarks in 2011 – and conveniently enough, he hails from Alec’s neck of the woods on Long Island.  Plus, Alec was a poly-sci major at GWU.  So, it’s really just a matter of time before he runs.  Liberals will vote for him regardless, but if he campaigns as an independent, the conservative voters who get all of their news from TV will be duped into thinking he’s his bloated, self-important character Jack Donaghy and will pull the lever for him for sure.  It’s a win-win. I look forward to seeing him yelling at the GOP on CSPAN.”
