Not really! SPOILER ALERT: it was amazing how fast my husband predicted* that Don would propose to Megan. Actually, I'm pretty sure "Dick Whitman" proposed to Megan. "Don Draper" married Betty, and can Betty please just perish in a horseback riding accident already? I believe if we can't get our wish of Don getting back together with Rachel Mencken, then Megan is a very good second choice. She's artistic, so she's never likely to turn into a preppy ice queen like Betty, but she's not too Bohemian, like Midge, so she's only likely to get hooked on legal substances. Loved how Roger, in keeping very true to his character (translation: lack thereof), didn't even know Megan's name. ( I don't see a bright future for him.) Dr. Faye would have just ended up mothering Don, and mommy issues never seemed to be on his plate of angst, despite his being a "whore child."
Question - am I the only viewer who thinks Peggy never wanted to bang Don, yet is still frustrated that he never tried to bang her? And kudos to Peggy for bringing new life back to SCDP with her "Topaz" account. Although, I suppose the "Cooper" will become "Campbell" now since Bert stomped out in his stocking feet after the exit of Lucky Strike.
My only REAL criticism of last night's finale (other than Betty not dropping dead), is why did they miss out on the premium opportunity to have Joan's husband succumb to sniper fire in Viet Nam while he was on the phone with her?!? That would have been primo drama. Besides, we all know her baby daddy is Roger, who would probably shrivel up and die without her.
It's going to be a loooong wait until next July for season 5. Here's to hoping the fabulous Sally Draper (the only real adult in the show) gets to move in with Daddy's new family and also for the return of much missed art director, Salvatore Romano!
*He always predicts EVERYTHING in TV plots. He could really write soaps.
