Washington DC – As House Republicans and Senate Democrats have arrived at an agreement that would prevent a government shutdown until at least March 15th, Americans are confused over whether this agreement makes our lawmakers seem more like dicks or less like dicks.
According to a useless poll, 46% view a government shutdown to be a “good thing” as it would justify their voting for the dicks who were threatening to shut it down, and 44% see the shutdown as a “bad thing” because it would make the seemingly compassionate folks they voted for, who pretended to care about social services, now look like dicks too as the shutdown would result in a loss of many of these services.
If the government does shut down, 47% of Americans would blame Republicans who ran on the “we’ll shut down the government to prove what bad-asses we are to distract you while we are not creating jobs” ticket last November, and 38% would blame President Obama because he’s the suit who’s stuck in charge. 5% of Americans would blame the King of Wisconsin* as he obviously hates middle class Americans, and 10% would blame evil Fox News overlord Rupert Murdoch, because if he can mentally teleport palm trees to Wisconsin during the labor protests, he’s obviously well on his way to accomplishing his diabolical goal of taking over America and turning it into his native Australia – but with less creepy crawlies**.
Clearly, we are a country divided over whether or not to feed our children to ensure proper early development so they don’t grow up to only be able to find work as the guy who cleans the Slurpee goo out of the machine at the 7-11 (and has to nutritionally subsist on said Slurpee goo), or whether or not to let our closest friends, who only call us when they need to fill a table at a $10k per plate charity dinner, to write off the mortgage interest on their multi-acre vacation estates in Bridgehampton. Tough call.
