Goal Post Jesus Got Called Home

MONROE, Ohio – According to area police, a large statue of Jesus Christ was struck by lightening and burned to the ground yesterday.
Technically christened the “King of Kings,” but often known simply as “Goal Post Jesus” due to his outstretched arms, His Holiness of the Highway was one of I-75's most familiar landmarks in southwest Ohio.

We spoke to one Monroe area state trooper and he told us, “well that’s a God Damn shame.  I’ve heard of lightening striking churches and burning them to the ground too.  I just can’t figger what the good Lord is thinking when he causes things to happen like that.  The church who erected it wasn’t even Catholic.”

Perhaps the Lord didn’t appreciate the workmanship of plastic foam and fiberglass as opposed to the finest Italian marble?  We’ll never know for sure.  Or maybe it was just a completely random occurrence and can be explained by this:
