There are some funny moments in RED, the latest action-comedy to hit theatres, and they mostly come from John Malkovich, who plays a retired CIA man who's "just a little" funny in the head from years of being fed LSD each day in a secret experiment the agency performed on its own agents. Wait, that doesn't sound funny! Trust us, it all works out. All sorts of hijinks, sensical and nonsensical, happen in this very entertaining and cartoonishly violent story about a bunch of old-dog retired agents on the run from mysterious forces led by the guy who played the head horseman in the Lord of the Rings (yes, we can't remember the actor's or character's name either). Bruce Willis and a surprisingly good Mary Louise-Parker (of Weeds fame) form the core couple on the lam, picking up Malkovich, Morgan Freeman (in his usual grandfatherly role, except with guns), and the amazingly lovely Hellen Mirren as a gun-toting Queen Elizabeth. Look for Richard Dreyfuss playing Richard Dreyfuss (or maybe Dick Cheney) playing a parody of a mob lord about half way through.
Best line of the film: "Open the Pig!" It'll make sense, trust us!
