Cyberspace - You’ve probably seen Internet headlines the last two days like “Kim Kardashian is Dead,” when she’s not (she was just on The Joy Behar Show last night extolling the virtues of being famous for being famous) as it’s really a publicity campaign to draw attention to World AIDS Day tomorrow.
Singer Alicia Keys came up with the idea for popular stars to commit “cyber suicide” in an effort to get their fans to donate money to the cause of AIDS awareness and Keys’ charity, Keep a Child Alive. Stars like Lady Gaga, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Elijah Wood and Khoe Kardashian have signed on for the Twitter and Facebook media blackout and fans can text the name of the celebrity they are mourning to 90999 to donate money to bring them back to life.
Killing off their cyber-selves seems like a favor to the general public as it is (particularly for those stars being PAID for Tweeting), so we wondered how much money these celebrities would really raise by silencing themselves? One expert fundraiser, who specializes in cheesy publicity stunts told us, “Well, it’s likely only Lady Gaga will come back from the dead quickly, as she has 24 million Facebook fans and 29 million Twitter followers and ALL of them want to find out the real story behind how she got that stuffed shirt Anderson Cooper loaded on Jameson's. As far as some of the other stars are concerned? Well, I think most of us can get through the day without finding out what they didn’t have for lunch. In my professional opinion, I think they might raise much more money for AIDS by promising to make their cyber musings go away permanently. That would definitely be a sure bet if you could get Courtney Love to agree to stop posting pictures of herself with her underwear riding up her ass crack.”

I'll pay 50 cents a day to keep 50 Cent off the grid.
