Lady Gaga Tells Weird Al to Beat It!

Pop star satirist, Weird Al Yankovic, found out the joke was on him recently when he asked Lady Gaga for permission to parody her new hit single, “Born This Way.”

Yankovic will typically seek an artist’s approval by submitting song lyrics after he’s written them, but Lady Gaga’s team demanded to hear the final produced song.  Yanovic obliged, but still was not granted permission despite his even offering to donate the proceeds to LGBT charities.

A music industry insider close to Yankovic told us, “Al is nice enough to ask permission of artists all the time even though technically, his work would be protected under the First Amendment and he doesn’t even have to get their approval.  Almost all of them say yes.   This reminds me of when he wanted to do a parody of a song released after John Lennon’s death but had to get permission from Yoko Ono. Ono stipulated that it had to be a package deal of Al including one of her songs on the album with John's.  Al is an animal lover and he couldn’t figure how to duplicate the sound of a rat in a blender to parody Yoko’s song, so he had to turn her down. And now this snub from Lady Gaga on top of that disappointment! He wasn’t going to wear a meat dress or anything. He’s a vegetarian! I guess Miss Thing’s never heard the old adage that parody is the sincerest form of flattery. That’s probably what’s kept Madonna quiet after watching Gaga basically just stealing her act, complete with alienating the church, wearing racy costumes, and then adding props like eggs to her stage show and calling it ‘art.’ I’m glad she hasn’t decided to add a comic element too on top of the props. I cringe to think of what Gaga would look like dressed as Carrot Top.”

UPDATE: Turns out Gaga's manager just behaved like a dick and didn't forward the song.  Weird Al blogged that she has approved it.
