Every Starlet to Wear Alexander McQueen for the Whole of 2011

New York – Days after the announcement that newly royal Kate Middleton had worn a wedding dress from designer Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, nearly every starlet and model in attendance at 2011 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala chose the late designer as well.

A style-watch expert told Unsolicited Drivel, “I believed that Kate’s choice would have a huge impact on fashion, and did it ever!  J-Lo, SJP, Giselle, Beyonce, Naomi Campbell and the voices in her head, all turned up in Alexander McQueen at the Met last night.  I’m sure if they were sporting baby bumps, even the sonograms would reveal the fetuses were wearing Alexander McQueen.  In fact, I don’t know if it’s just because of Kate or a combination of Kate’s wedding dress and survivor’s guilt, but I fully expect every starlet and model to wear nothing but Alexander McQueen for the rest of the year.  Somebody call Joan Rivers’ people and tell them they can pack her back in her casket with mothballs, as there will be no reason for her and her minions to cover any more red carpets this year.”

Meanwhile in Heaven, the spirit of Alexander McQueen turned to Coco Chanel and said, “Can you believe this?  I’m not comfortable with all of this attention even in the afterlife.  You know what? I actually got to the point in my career where I knew that if I asked Sarah Jessica Parker to wear a collar of dog turds decorated with marabou feathers and Swarovski Crystals, she would happily comply.  So I could have, but I mean, what’s the point?  And a lot of those designs came straight from my nightmares -like Lady Gaga’s lobster claw shoes.  Why do they think I offed meself?  Obviously, I missed me Mum, but I also did it just to get those creepy nightmares to stop.  No offense to you as a former haberdasher Coco, but Jesus, I’m glad that at least I wasn’t responsible for that bird on SJP’s head in the ‘Sex and the City’ the movie.”
