Career Ad Man Fired After Debut of
Presidents' Day Holiday Campaign!

New York, NY – A 33-year veteran of the ad business, Mike Michaelson of DDBBDD&O Worldwide, was unceremoniously dismissed from his position as agency creative director today after a controversial campaign debuted over this weekend. Senior management agreed that while the angle was both fresh and creative, they would never be able to their calm their client’s anger over the negative feedback they had already received from the print campaign.  Besides, as every agency professional knows, successful advertising should have no relation to reality.  This hard and fast rule particularly applies to the automotive industry – the agency’s bread and butter, which as of late was much more like margarine on a saltine.  Even offering car bombers "employee discounts" had failed to ignite business lately in overseas markets.  Also, the agency was still smarting from the campaign  Michaelson presented last Presidents’ Day for Frog Hollow Ford in Biloxi, Mississippi, with the slogan of “Emancipate Yourself from High Prices!”  Sadly, this latest ad featuring our 37th president was the final nail in the coffin for the hopelessly out of touch Michaelson at DDBBDD&O, who had most recently embarrassed the agency by pitching the campaign "Got Crabs?" to the Northeastern Seafood Council last summer.
