Heckuva Job, Brownie!

Washington, DC – Scott Brown has already gotten it right! The freshman senator realized that the majority of Americans couldn’t possibly wrap their brains around any healthcare debate if they are unemployed.  Of course, that brain fog works to cloud the notion that meetings are likely taking place in secret with healthcare lobbyists (big Pharma) behind their backs - a win-win for Washington.  Maybe Scotty’s too green to get that?  Anyhow...the Senate’s newest Republican helped along the vote of a $15 billion Democratic jobs creation bill, defeating a GOP filibuster by a vote of 62-30.  The final vote to pass the measure is expected Wednesday.  The bill would provide payroll tax credits for businesses to hire to unemployed workers (anyone want to see my resume?) and provide an additional $1,000 tax credit if the new hires stay on the job for a full year.  Brown said he had hoped for deeper tax cuts, but was pleased just to help people get back to work.  Even more surprisingly, he didn’t express an insistence that the new jobs created should be relegated to limo driver, pool boy, hedge (fund) trimmer, cigar roller or champagne flute polisher.
