Camel Not Tickled Pink Over Criticism

Winston-Salem - Camel Cigarettes is fired up over criticism of their “Pink No. 9" cigarettes ad campaign.  The ads have appeared in magazines like "Vogue" and "Cosmopolitan," which many concerned parents feel are read by too many impressionable teens who will be encouraged to pick up the deadly smoking habit.  Camel’s spokesperson insists that the demographics for those publications are women readers that are 18 years and older.  They offered further that the “Pink” campaign was also conceived to draw awareness to the breast cancer fight and to take the pressure off making headway for lung cancer awareness.  Camel finally agreed to pull the ads though after they were spotted in the publications  “Jonas Brothers’ Weekly,” “Hannah Montana Monthly,” and “Justin Bieber Beat.”
