Bitch Bitches About Imperceptible Weight Gain

“Sex and the City 2” star, and “Sex and the City 3,4,5,” until it becomes “Sex and the Septuagenarians” star Kim Catrall’s latest role is a far cry from her sleek cougar alter ego, Samantha Jones.  In “Meet Monica Velour,” an independent film that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, Kim plays a washed up prostitute and admits she had to hit herself with an ugly stick regularly for the role.  Washed up prostitute?  Does that mean she was shipwrecked? 

Kim’s director insisted she gain 35 pounds for the part, but she was able to persuade him that it should be convincing enough to make it look like she mistakenly ate a cheeseburger for lunch instead of sniffing radicchio molecules.  Also, she didn’t exercise at all in between spin classes.  On a press junket for the film, Kim offered, “It was one of the more difficult shoots I’ve ever had. The weight gain was stressful enough, but there were days where they had to put a burlap bag over the camera lens to make me look more even f*#ked up.  All in all, I’d have to say it was truly terrifying to play a role where it didn’t look like they would have had a bronze bust of my character in the lobby of the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa.”
