Tea Party Upset in the First State!

Wilmington - Delaware has long been no fan of taxes (it’s sales-tax free), and they just took their dislike one step further in yesterday’s primary by electing the Tea Party’s latest darling, Christine O’Donnell, as their GOP senate candidate for this November.

This surprising defeat took one-time governor and long-time republican Rep. Mike Castle out of the running.  We were pretty stunned by this climate change in the first state.   Castle is known to be moderate and he really seemed to be the perfect candidate to help the GOP regain control in mid-term elections.

We asked one Delaware Tea Party member to comment on O’Donnell’s big victory and he told us, “It’s no surprise to me.  I only kind of half paid attention to her in 2008, but as soon as she put on those Sarah Palin glasses, she had me smitten.  And there’s no better time for a radical change in our politics than when the country is circling the drain.  That’s still not to say it’s not going to be an uphill battle for Christine.  I mean it’s tough to raise funds just to hire security to watch for intruders in the candidate’s bushes around their condo.  Although, Christine does know the sheriff personally from all of the times he served her with her debtor warrants, so maybe he’d help her out.  Wait a minute -- come to think of it, the way Christine spends money that she doesn’t have makes her a bit TOO MUCH like an old school republican for my taste.”
