New York - While muppet lovers nationwide were delighting in Sesame Street’s “Old Spice Guy” parody with Grover last week, one pop star was said to be none too pleased with the “Smell Like a Monster” ad campaign.
Apparently, Lady Gaga has a soon-to-be-released perfume and it’s called – get this – MONSTER. A pal close to Gaga tells Unsolicited Drivel that she is fuming at Grover and even considering filing a copyright infringement lawsuit against him.
We caught up with a producer on Sesame Street for comment and he told us, “First we piss of Katy Perry, and now Lady Gaga? What, does Miss Thing own the word ‘monster’ now? You do realize that she’s just a rich kid that grew up on the Upper East Side who's pretending to be offbeat to be hip, right? This is ridiculous and I’m really ticked that’s it’s taking away from Grover’s moment in the spotlight. Do you know how long it took for me to convince the brass at the ‘Street’ to let him do the bit instead of that fuzzy, red castrato Elmo? Who cares if somebody smells like a monster anyway? They should be more concerned about talking like a monster. If everybody let out a few Grover grunts every day, the world would be a better place. Repeat after me: Reep! Rop! Rork!”
