Sarah Jessica Parker is claiming to be in a “state of turmoil” over the upcoming release of Sex and the City 2 (now in Sensurround with the audience able to feel the hot flashes with air pumped into the theater). The actress, who plays the clothes-whore Carrie Bradshaw, and also executive produced film, worries about the reception it will receive.
The first movie took in over $400 million at the box office, but she told ET online “I’m excited and very nervous as I have a tendency to overthink things. Kind of like my character, Carrie. Except she’s deciding between being able to afford food or a $1500 pair of strappy sandals. But now that she’s married to Mr. Big, she can not only afford any shoes she wants, but she can also hire people to watch eat that she can live vicariously through. Anyway, I sure hope it does okay to make room for a third film, as being hounded by paparazzi while walking around in Central Park wearing no make-up while pushing my invitro-wonder spawn in their stroller is getting pretty harsh.”
One industry insider remarked, “of course, there’s the worry that the audience won’t recognize the stars of the film from the overly Photoshopped posters or them thinking Carrie’s gone blind as her eyes are crossed, but I think, in general, she probably has nothing to worry about. I will say that it’s obscene in this economy what they spent on the clothing those aging skanks wore in the movie, but audiences want escapism and for some reason, TV executives can’t grasp that as they continually depict women as cops, lawyers, or nurses and all with substance abuse problems and/or shitty home lives. She should be more concerned that audiences will lose interest in the franchise after they bring back the character Aidan, who's likely to be about as interesting as the camel farts in their new picture’s desert locale.”
