Police say that they began to be flooded with calls about the strange object floating over the Chelsea neighborhood around 1:30 PM.
Law enforcement sources have ruled out a “balloon boy” stunt, as it’s unlikely that any predatory parents hoping for a reality TV series would be living in the trendy neighborhood, yet they still have yet to confirm just what it was.
We spoke with one New York witness who told us, “I was really kind of baffled. At first I thought I might be hallucinating after staying up all night watching the Chilean miners being rescued on TV, and what I was seeing could have been one of their rescue capsules, but later, the more I thought about it, I decided if it was a shiny, silvery item floating over Chelsea, it was probably just a disco ball.”
