The horrible shooting tragedy in Arizona this weekend, with the attempted assassination on Democratic Congressperson Gabrielle Giffords, had prompted Reilly to make this assessment.
The disgruntled conservative told Unsolicited Drivel, “I thought after we voted to let the GOP take back the House, life was going to get good again. Meanwhile, as they are being sworn into Congress, which some of them didn’t even bother to show up for, animals are dying left and right like it’s the end of the world or something. Then they go and name Michele Bachmann to serve on the House Intelligence Committee? I mean I voted for her, I think she’s pretty hot, but I still don’t see how Bachmann’s name and the word ‘intelligence’ have business in the same sentence together. And now we’ve had this Arizona shooting tragedy! And the shooter has a book collection that makes his taste in reading seem schizophrenic – example, Karl Marx and Ayn Rand(??) – but he doesn’t even toss in the prerequisite A Catcher in the Rye to make his craziness seem familiar. I’m telling you NOTHING MAKES SENSE after last week. Oh, except one thing makes perfect sense to me now – Sarah Palin is NOT a leader and actually a real coward. That’s about the only thing I’m not confused about.”
