London - British singer Lily Allen is going to be writing some songs for a new musical based on Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones Diary.
The same creative team is on board from Billy Elliott, but we don’t expect to find Elton John among them after Allen notoriously picked a drunken fight with him onstage at a GQ awards show.
The show will debut on London’s West End next year. We’ll have to wait and hope it makes it to Broadway to enjoy her whimsical lyrics. Very likely, the songs will include phrases about Turkey Curry making her want to hurl in a hurry and possibly Allen might even re-work her song F@!k You! (from her latest album) to apply to that rake Daniel Cleaver, and there could be another song about the Mark Darcy character suffering from premature ejaculation. Or something like that. She won't be able to work in the words "crack whore" probably unless they do the sequel - Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason. Lily could do A LOT with that Thai prostitute prison scene! But this will be a lively show, that’s for sure. Producers can sign us up now to order the original cast album.
