Ogre Obliterates Sex and a Prince

Shrek Forever After remained tops at the box office this weekend, stomping its very likely stinky feet all over $1500 shoe wearing former sophisticates and a bare-chested video game hero, as both Sex and the City 2 and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time failed to live up to expectations.

One Dream Works executive commented, “I think we were successfully able to convince people that this will indeed be the final chapter for Shrek (hah!) and they all made sure to all head out to the box office.

The weekend that was supposed to be a battle of the sexes, between SATC and Persia, turned out to be more like a battle of the sexless.

Warner Brothers, who released Sex and the City 2, told us “women make up 90% of the SATC audience, and surprisingly,  it seems like they were much more interested in reaching the beach this weekend than watching Carrie wear a new outfit every 3 minutes while traipsing around the sands of the Sahara feeling sorry for herself.”

Persia hopes to make up the difference over the long haul. The distributor, Disney, told us, “we know there’s lots of competition out there.  Audiences may not have been looking for a tale about a dashing swordsman committing acts of derring-do this weekend when doo-doo jokes were readily still available.”
