Los Angeles - Glee creator Ryan Murphy is confirming that they plan to have “legendary” (at least in the tabloids) pop star Britney Spears guest star this fall on their episode that will be a tribute to her music (at least it can be classified as such with advances in electronics).
Murphy revealed to Ryan Seacrest (who else?) in an interview that many of Britney’s musical numbers will be performed in the show and the pop tart will even appear on the show herself. They haven’t decided if it will be a fantasy sequence or if she will be a real character. He told him, “Well, we’re not sure if we want her to be a competitor, like on the ‘Vocal Adrenaline’ team or not. I'm not convinced that anyone's ever heard her actual singing voice. And, given the recent paparazzi shots I’ve seen of Britney, it’s maybe more likely I’ll make her a competing cheerleading coach, rivaling Sue Sylvester. That way we can be sure she wears a track suit.”
Also in the works for the hit singing show are tributes to the Beatles (but only music licensed by Paul McCartney™ ), Michael Jackson, and Prince (as soon as they buy the Purple One a TV/DVD combo and get him to figure out what the hell the show is).
