Hey Anonymous #1 - how did you know the writer was referring to you when they said "Mean People Party" - obviously you took it personally. What party are you? Dare you admit it?

I'm a republican who has worked 40 yrs and paid my taxes. paid back my loans, and resent the government redistributing the wealth with programs like Obama has announced in the last couple of days. if you borrowed money you agreed to certain conditions and you should pay it back under those same conditions.

I'm an Independent who has worked for 35 years and paid my taxes, paid back my loans. Republicans have zero credibility with me. As far as I can tell, the only thing they care about is themselves. Every time they are in power, they run up the debt and get the country involved in wars. Every time they are out of power, they criticize the Democrats for not following through with wars they started and for not paying off debts Republicans have incurred. I get how the super-rich are Republican: the party is about nothing other than the furtherance and support of the rich. I don't get how anyone else is. The streak of cruelty the article jokes about is real. It's a party of people who do nothing but bitch and complain about how everyone else is the problem. They are not for the people.

hey GavB,
here is your word for the day.
Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc’-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.
this perfectly describes Obama and his voters.

Hey Anonymous, here is your word for the day: Imbecilocracy: where a political party which represents a tiny fraction of the country - the super-rich - is somehow able to exist because they get ignorant midwestern and southern fools who aren't super-rich to vote for them, even though they then turn around and screw those very same voters at every turn. Think Republicans politicians care about Christian values? Jesus threw the moneylenders out of his temple - Republicans are beholden to money and bankers. Think Republicans care about keeping government small and out of our lives? Not when it comes to regulating a woman's uterus. Republican voters live in a shielded world of Fox TV, which tells them what they want to hear, and ignores reality. I would feel sorry for them if they weren't so dangerous with their radical anti-democratic views (they are only in favor of democracy as a jingoism, in truth the party is authoritarian and leader-loving rather than meaningful believers in democratic values).

And this is what the democrats are good at redistribution of wealth.
“in these desperate times in America — plagued by high unemployment and a never-ending housing crisis — President Obama is seeking desperate measures. His latest: Calling the naming of a national monument a jobs creation act.
This new monument in Virginia, Fort Monroe, was once one of the nation's largest Army posts. During the 17th century it played a key role in the history of slavery and during the Civil War housed escaped slaves.
President Obama ensures Virginians that this monument, "will help create nearly 3,000 jobs," in a White House press release.
Of course he left out the part where once the landscaping is up to par and the buildings restored on this national monument that many of those 3,000 jobs will cease to exist. He also left out the small detail that these are government-created jobs. They were not spawned from the private-sector market, so therefore your tax dollars will be used to create and sustain this land and many of the jobs needed to maintain it.
All the government does is take money out of one pocket and put it in another, The government does not create wealth, it just moves money around. “
