Is “Precious” Too Precious for Oprah?

Los Angeles – Academy Awards Best Actress nominee, Gabourey Sidibe, might just be the one jewel that Queen of All Things, Oprah Winfrey, will not get to add to her crown.  Supposedly, the 26-year-old breakout star is planning on bringing a really cool date to the Oscars – her mom.  However, it is reported that Oprah had called her and offered to let her tag along with her down the red carpet. Sidibe reportedly remarked, “Oprah, calm down. I don't want to show up with you. People will think we're TOO cool." We wonder if that was what she was really thinking or if she wanted to emulate stars like Clint Eastwood and Ben Affleck who graciously and gratefully brought their moms to the Oscars? Or, maybe she felt badly because she couldn’t spend the 48 hours prior to the show having her pal Gail move her feet on a treadmill for her for hours on end to fit into her dress just perfectly?  Or, she couldn’t get the studio to pop for seaweed facial from the Wild Sargasso Sea, head to toe and with exfoliating live protozoa to make her look her red carpet best?  We’ll never know for sure.
