Blue Monday: Obama Must Present 2011 Budget to Congress
Washington, DC – It’s the first Monday in February, and that can only mean one thing – President Obama must send his budget to Congress for 2011. Reportedly, the budget is $3.83 trillion dollars but will also include a record breaking $1.56 trillion deficit. What a difference a decade makes! In fiscal year 2000, we had a budget SURPLUS of $230 billion, and who was elected (allegedly) later that year? What was that fella’s name again? Ah, selective memory! Without it we wouldn’t have unsubstantiated rage due to the luxury not paying attention. This new budget would allow money to help turn around the country’s high unemployment, remove the “tax relief” to those who were able to fund the Scott Brown campaign and put a spending freeze on a number of government programs (We wouldn’t have even known existed, so what's to miss?!?). Obama reiterated the plan from the State of the Union address to make job creation the number one priority and we can only assume that by jobs, he doesn’t mean greens keeper, nanny, or driver. Although, he would like to put money into creating “green” jobs, ironically enough. Just not the ones the Republicans might have had in mind. Also disappointing to the GOP is Obama’s inability to clean up a fiscal mess it took them eight years to dump on the beautifully handcrafted rug that used to be the greatest country on Earth. This notion leaves some of the great sages in the party scratching their heads and wondering if maybe the country should have gone with the first Mexican American president instead.
