The Break-Like-China Syndrome

Apparently we are close to having the technology to be able to drill into the earth's molten mantle and scientists are saying drilling could begin as soon as 2020. A supremely bad idea! Haven't we had enough problems with ZOMG DANGEROUS RUN AWAY technologies lately (oil spills, radioactive plumes, the blow dryer used to create Donald Trump's hair) to have even the slightest hesitancy about doing this? If we had any sense at all someone would go say to these scientists "Please stop before you ZOMG BREAK THE EARTH!" We can take away their stem cells, can't we take away their drill bits? Distract them with shiny plastic protractors? Defund any organization with the word "Science" in it (no wait, the Republicans already introduced that bill, never mind). And why 2020? To give them enough time to build a space-ark to escape in when ZOMG IT'S THE BIGGEST VOLCANO EVER AND IT'S COMING RIGHT AT US!!?! Ok, we confess, we're using ZOMG like it's going out of style to honor the fact that the Oxford English Dictionary has recently added the term, along with other popular internet abbreviations like LOL, BFF and ZOMG IT'S THE END OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!!!!
